TORONTO, ON – On Tuesday, the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery announced Max Mara as the official Presenting Sponsor of the prestigious Power Ball for the second year in a row. Also part of the announcement, the theme of Toronto’s most coveted art party was unveiled to be Pleasure Principle.
The 19th annual event which is set to take place on June 2nd, 2016, will transform The Power Plant into a grand, immersive contemporary art experience showcasing music, food, fashion, society and ambiance. Guests will be invited to be guided by their pleasure as they walk from room to room with each art-filled space generating an atmosphere that is sure to invoke different kinds of gratification.
At the announcement, director of The Power Plant, Gaëtane Verna thanked sponsors, donors and partners for their continued support in helping raise vital funds for the gallery; creating the opportunity to present the best in contemporary art through public programs, free exhibitions and various events throughout the year.
The announcement event saw esteemed guests such as fashion blogger Jay Strut, socialite Catherine Nugent, sports anchor Evanka Osmak, art directors Jed Tallo & Truc Nguyen, Dauphine Magazine’s Krystal (editor) and Justin Lunardo (Business Operations) and social columnist Shinan Govani in attendance for the celebration at Max Mara’s Bloor Street location in Toronto. The guests enjoyed Italian hors d’oeuvres by Daniel et Daniel while a New York Virtuosi trio played contemporary strings.
Since its inception in 1999, Power Ball thrives as an ambitious fundraising event that provides vital funds for exhibitions and public programs at The Power Plant. The party itself has set the standard as one of the most influential and vibrant art galas in Toronto. Attracting a sophisticated and wide range of a “Who’s Who” of guests, the party unites the worlds of fashion, film, music, media, visual arts, advertising and finance. Notable specific artists to have been featured in the past include Jon Rafman, Jesi the Elder, Marisa Hoika, CONFETTI SYSTEM and Philippe Blanchard.
