Adele – Hello
What a return to music this is for London native Adele. After a three-year hiatus from music, Adele finally released “Hello” – the first single from her upcoming album 25, on Friday. Adele describes the song as a “massive breakthrough” creatively as it put an end to the writer’s block she was experiencing. The epic power ballad, fueled by loss and regret, has already debuted at #1 on the iTunes Charts in 85 countries. Directed by Canadian Xavier Dolan, the video sees a recently broken-up woman calling up a younger version of herself and achieved over 23.2 million views within a 24-hour span on Vevo. “Hello” broke the previous Vevo Record held by Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood music video (20.1 million). Three days since its release, the video has now been viewed over 70.5 million times. Her album 25 will release on November 20th, 2015.

Jamie Lawson – Wasn’t Expecting That
In addition to being one of the most touching songs of the year, Jamie Lawson’s music video for Wasn’t Expecting That is one that is sure to pull on your heartstrings. Directed by Bouha Kazmi, the music video is a journey that goes back in time through a couple’s life together through its ups and downs. Lawson’s folky heartfelt voice is seamlessly complemented by the video’s storyline and by the end, it is understandable if a tear or two have been shed. The song peaked at #6 on the UK Singles Chart, a far cry from the pubs and bars Lawson used to play for decades in his hometown of Plymouth.
Thirty-nine-year old Jamie Lawson became the first artist to be signed by Ed Sheeran to his new record label, Gingerbread Man Records and his album Jamie Lawson went all the way to #1 on UK’s Official Charts Company (OCC). Cheers Jamie, your success is well-deserved and has been a long-time coming!
