HEALTH: How to get the best results from sleeping

We’ve all heard of the term ‘beauty sleep’ and how it benefits us in daily life, but how many of us really get the amount and quality of sleep required to bring on those benefits? For all of you late sleepers and insomniacs out there Belleza Moda has brought you some tips to help you fall asleep faster, better, and make your body healthier overall.

1. Relaxation or white noise

A lot of people find solace in listening to relaxing soundtracks while going to sleep. The sounds are known to soothe and calm the nerves and place you in a more relaxed state to have a better sleep. Try to avoid any music with sounds of people singing as the lyrics will cause your brain to be more active in trying to recognize and listen to the words.

2. Avoid loud alarm clocks if possible.

There are some of us out there who just can’t wake up no matter how loud the alarm is, so in order to combat that we set multiple deafening alarms. However, the noise is stressful on the body. Instead, try waking up to soft vibrations. Below, we’ve included a vibrating alarm clock that you may find gives you a way better start to your mornings.

3. Keep your bed for sleeping.

What do we mean by this tip? Well, nowadays a lot of people tend to study in bed, read in bed, mark papers, do assignments, or work from home from the comfort of their bed. However, studies show that this causes the brain to start to associate the bed with activities other than sleeping, making it harder for us to fall asleep when bedtime comes around. Instead, try taking your work to a nearby desk, living room table, or even a couch in another room if possible.

4. Exercise regularly.

Exercising, in general, is a great tip for overall health. But, did you know that there are links to exercise benefiting sleep as well? In general, when people exercise during the day they find that they have more energy overall for other activities. So, instead of drinking that extra cup of coffee, or taking a quick nap, have a quick thirty minute cardio session in order to bring that heart rate up. You’ll be surprised how well you sleep at the end of the day!

5. Try not to eat before you go to bed.

This is a sleep tip, as well as an effective health and diet tip. When you eat before bed there is a higher chance that you may have heartburn, causing you to stay awake in pain. Along with this, eating before bed will cause your appetite for breakfast to be affected. As everyone knows, breakfast is the most important meal of the day to kick-start your metabolism.

If any of you are suffering from extremely serious, chronic insomnia, then visiting a sleep clinic may be a good investment to make. After all, think of all those hours you’ve wasted tossing and turning when you could be having amazing dreams and a night of great rest and relaxation.
